Elvis #4 and #5 Elvis #6 Elvis #7

Elvis the KingElvis PresleyElvis!  The King of Rock and Roll.  It's amazing how many people want to imitate him.  It's more amazing yet how much variety there is in the impersonations.  Some are pathetically bad.  Some just make it into the realm of respectability.  A few rare ones are actually good.  But among them all, not one has all the same qualities that made Elvis "The King."  And it's for that reason that no one would ever just strive to imitate another Elvis impersonator.  Now if you didn't grow up knowing Elvis as part of your life, these people who strive to be like him must seem quite strange.  If you don't know Elvis for yourself, you'll really never even know which ones are pathetically bad and which ones give us a small reflection of what made him the King of Rock and Roll.  Some say that Elvis is still alive, but you can be sure they won't be saying that even fifty years from now, even though they may still be saying he was a great singer and entertainer.

And while the world has had its kings, from royalty to sports to rock and roll, there is one person known as the King of Kings:

Jesus, King of KingsWorshipJesus!  The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, Son of Man and Son of God.  It's amazing how many people want to imitate him.  It's more amazing yet how much variety there is in the impersonations.  Some are pathetically bad.  Some just make it into the realm of respectability.  A few rare ones are actually good.  But among them all, not one has all the same qualities that made Jesus "The King of Kings."  And it's for that reason that no one should ever just strive to imitate another Christian.  Now if you didn't grow up knowing Jesus as part of your life, these people who strive to be like him must seem quite strange.  If you don't know Jesus for yourself, you'll really never even know which ones are pathetically bad and which ones give us a small reflection of what made him the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  Some say that Jesus is still alive, and you can be sure they'll be saying that fifty years from now and fifty after that, just as people have for two thousand years since he first appeared after his crucifixion as the risen Savior of mankind.

Elvis was a great singer and entertainer, but you won't know what makes him unique unless you see him for yourself.  Jesus reconciles man to God and changes lives, but you won't know what makes him unique unless you seek Him for yourself.

Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place." "You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
Word of Jesus Christ in John 18:36-37

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Word of Jesus Christ in John 14:18-20
