A cockroach runs from the light

A deer frozen in the light

A moth flies to the light

It's interesting to observe the way that different animals respond to a light shining in the dark. The cockroach scrambles with terror for the nearest place of darkness. The deer stands frozen in shock, immobilized and unable to move in any direction. The moth turns from the darkness and immediately flies with passion directly into the light.

Humans respond in much the same way when we encounter God.  Some people run to the nearest place of darkness when confronted with God. Some stand frozen where they are and never make a decision.  Others turn from the darkness in their lives and pursue God with passion.

God has made Himself known through Jesus to guide us as a light from our spiritual darkness.  What do you do when the light comes on?

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Words of Jesus Christ in John 8:12

"This is the verdict:
Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
Words of Jesus Christ in John 3:19-21

Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.  When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me.  I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
Words of Jesus Christ in John 12:44-46

See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.
Words of Jesus Christ in Luke 11:35
